Tunbridge Wells is just one of two places in the whole of Kent which has seen its number of coronavirus infections fall over the last week.

Along with Canterbury it has recorded a small decline in cases whereas everywhere else in Kent has seen a steady growth, with some areas going above 100 cases per 100,000.

According to the latest coronavirus dashboard figures nine out of 13 districts in Kent, including Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Maidstone, now have infection rates of more than 100, based on new cases in the seven days leading up to November 2.

The average infection rate in England currently stands at 231.8 per 100,000 residents.

In Tunbridge Wells however the figures is only around one fifth of that. Last week 65 cases were recorded at a rate of 54.7, compared to 69 at a rate of 58.1 the week before.

Canterbury recorded 159 cases at 96.1, compared to 165 at 99.8 the week before.

The highest rate for coronavirus cases is in Swale, which recorded an infection rate of 235.9. Thanet boasts the second highest number of Covid-19 cases with a rate of 205.7.
