Tunbridge Wells agency Southpaw back West Kent YMCA campaign

People are being encouraged to acknowledge the homeless without passing judgment on them in a new film from West Kent YMCA created by Tunbridge Wells-based agency Southpaw.

The agency has launched the campaign ‘Don’t Look The Other Way’ for the charity to raise awareness of youth homelessness in the local area and ask people not to ignore them.

The film features the true story of Becky, a young woman who used to live at the YMCA and now owns her own fashion boutique.

Two films have been spliced together to create a 360-degree video allowing the viewer to explore two outcomes of youth homelessness.

Viewers experience a ‘dark side’, in which she is left destitute, and the ‘light side’, where she has been given a roof over her head and support.

Glenn Smith, Southpaw’s Creative Director, said: “We’re all guilty of it. We’ve all walked past, pretending it’s not happening. But the stark truth is that homelessness is on the rise and young people need more help than ever.”
