Penshurst Place will be back on television in a new historical drama featuring Benedict Cumberbatch next week.

The star of Sherlock will be taking up a new role as King Richard III, to whom he is distantly related, in The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses, timed to coincide with the 400-year anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.

Filming for the BBC production at the famous stately home, which has been the home of the Sidney family since 1552, was filmed over three days in December 2014 and January 2015.
