Kent Police was called at 9.22am on 31 October to Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells, to reports of a suspicious package.
Officers are currently at the scene carrying out enquiries and a cordon has been set up as a precaution.
UPDATE
Bomb disposal unit arrived at 1.25pm and has now been driven into the pedestrian high street at 1.44pm.
Loud bang heard at 1:53pm.
