Staff well-being earns hospital award

Madeira Tunbridge Wells 2

Healthy eating, reiki and growing vegetables have contributed to Benenden Hospital’s winning an Investors in People health and well-being award.

Since January, staff have been encouraged to eat healthily, exercise meditate and more, while health checks and plots in which to grow vegetables have also been offered.

The hospital director has encouraged staff to discuss work/life balance and support has been offered to those who want to stop smoking.

Last year, the hospital was awarded a silver Investors in People award. In 2017, to coincide with the opening of the new £45 million redevelopment the hospital is going for gold.

Jack Harland, chairman of the hospital’s health and well-being group, said: “This is a very important award for us and we are thrilled to have achieved it in such a short amount of time.

“We believe in the health and well-being of our staff, for us it is a top priority. This comes at a very exciting time, with works progressing on our redevelopment. Here at Benenden Hospital we are investing not only in providing new facilities but in our people too.”
