Scaled back Local & Live still rocks

The organiser of Local & Live has praised the ‘fantastic support’ for the music festival from the public over the bank holiday.’

Paul Dunton believes money raised at the event, which saw 100 acts perform at four venues over four days, will ‘go a long way’ to clearing Local & Live’s debts.

This year, his organisation was forced to scale back – having previously featured stages in Calverley Grounds – due to losing money from festivals over previous years.

However, Mr Dunton said they were now getting back on an even footing and estimated Local & Live had raised almost £8,000 of the course of the bank holiday.

“Last year we couldn’t cover our costs and we owe several companies money, but this will go a long way to balancing the books. It was a great event and I am so pleased at how well attended it is. Public support was amazing.

“We had so many good bands playing this year it is hard to name a favourite.”
