Royal Victoria Place evacuated

Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells was evacuated this afternoon at around 3.30pm when shoppers were escorted out the building.

It’s believed that the cause of the alarm was Subway’s boiler reportedly leaking and reports suggest that security staff and managers ran down to the food court to attend.

They couldn’t get the fire alarm off and just to be safe, they evacuated the shopping centre with the alarm stopping approximately ten minutes after it went off.

Bystanders reported that after the alarm sounded security guards started running down to the food court and went into the doors by McDonalds. After being evacuated shoppers had to go out into the cold, with some seeking shelter in nearby shops.
