Rock relics up for sale at Mayfield’s spring festival

MAYFIELD’S Mayfair will be holding a silent auction featuring items of rock and literary memorabilia to raise money for the Children’s Air Ambulance.

The Mayfair will be held in the High Street on Saturday May 13 from 1-4pm.

Fittingly a guitar signed by Brian May of rock group Queen was among the items up for sale, along with a canvas of the Dark Side of the Moon artwork signed by Pink Floyd’s drummer Nick Mason. These items had reserve prices of £750 and £500 respectively.

There will also be copies of Frederick Forsyth’s book The Cobra and Ranulph Fiennes, both signed by the author.

The Children’s Air Ambulance flies critically ill children across the UK to reach the specialist care they need.

It can deliver children to safety four times faster than transport by road, and also offers an intensive care unit on board.

The event will include Maypole dancing by local schoolchildren, Morris Men and Mummers and the traditional encounter between Jack-in-the-Green and the Frost Queen, representing spring banishing winter.
