TUNBRIDGE Wells Round Table, whose firework fundraiser has been cancelled due to Covid restrictions, have urged people to continue donating.

The annual firework show was founded in 1957 and raises around £30,000 each year for worthy causes.

It is the largest gathering in Tunbridge Wells and normally attracts around 12,000 people.

However due to Covid, the firework display has had to be cancelled, and instead, the association is asking for donations via text.

Fireworks committee member, Andrew Mockford said: “We’re committed to giving the people of Tunbridge Wells and beyond a great evening of entertainment, whilst enabling them to give something back to the local community.

“Over many years, we’ve been in the privileged position of being able to fulfil requests from numerous worthy causes. Without the public’s continuing support, this wouldn’t have been possible.

“This year, we’ve set up a text donation service for those wishing to contribute. It would be fantastic to be able to offer support to people over the forthcoming months, during what is likely to be a very difficult time for several individuals and charities.”

Last year’s show raised over £30,000 for good causes. To donate £5 to the cause, text DUNORLAN to 70085.
