An adaption of The Princess and the Pea staged by local actors and musicians at Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells is now heading for the bright lights of London.

Youaremine Theatre Company and Trinity Productions united for the first time to co-produce the show which put a brand new twist on the children’s tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It was adapted by Tom Crowley, given an original score by Sam Farrow and directed by John Martin.

The successful staging of the production last October came to the attention of the organisers of The Vault Festival and Youaremine and Trinity have been invited to put on performances of their original show.

It will be one of several films, shows and events held at The Vaults in London’s Waterloo between January and March.

The Princess and the Pea will be part of the Locker season and will be performed as part of the weekend matinees of offer during the festival.

Director John Martin said: “It feels really good to be able to bring a great new piece of children’s theatre to audiences in London.

“Our adaption of The Princess and the Pea is a great retelling of the classic tale with a contemporary spin.”
