Plenty to celebrate with the Tonbridge launch

More than 100 people from local organisations, shops and businesses went along to the Old Fire Station in Tonbridge last week to celebrate the launch of the town’s new paper… the Times of Tonbridge.

And there was plenty to celebrate. Distribution teams struggled to keep up with demand for the 104-page edition as commuters snapped up copies at railway stations and shoppers picked up papers at supermarkets, coffee shops and garages. Newspaper staff also delivered copies to 2,000 homes. In all 6,500 newspapers were distributed.

The new paper is an edition of its sister title the Times of Tunbridge Wells.

Tonbridge’s Editor at Large Frank Baldwin said: “We’d already received lots of positive feedback after the original announcement about the launch and were even more encouraged by the number of people joining us at the celebration.

“It just shows the level of interest in the town and the support for a different media platform such as the Times.”
Both titles are published each Wednesday and are free of charge.
