New Tunbridge Wells theatre to open

Trevor Davison

The town’s new theatre, set to replace the Assembly Hall, will stage its first performance in November 2020.

The proposed site is the Great Hall car park. It would have a capacity of 1,300, and would feature restaurants and bars with raised terraces overlooking Calverley Grounds.

The current site of the Town Hall and Assembly Hall could then be used for retail, residential or leisure purposes – or be turned into a university.
