New lease of life for Bowlplex set to undergo Hollywood rebrand

HOLLYWOOD is coming to Tunbridge Wells this September, but do not expect to see stars on red carpets and film premiers.
Bowlplex is to be rebranded as Hollywood Bowl after it was also announced that the company had secured a 14-year extension to the site in Knights Park. It comes two years after the majority of Bowlplex properties were bought out by its rival in a deal which at the time was closely scrutinised by competition regulators.
Since then, many of the leisure facilities have been refurbished and rebranded to fit an American retro vibe – most recently Ashford at the cost of £300,000
The plans for the Knights Park alley were announced on July 26 via a statement to investors released through the London Stock Exchange. However, planning documents reveal the company applied for permission to erect new signage in late June.
Chief Financial Officer Laurence Keen said his company had a ‘close relationship’ with the site’s landlord. He added: “We are pleased to have further strengthened our property portfolio. We have now successfully completed the refurbishment or re-brand of 55 per cent of our estate and we continue to build strong relationships with landlords right across the UK,”
“Tunbridge Wells [is one] of our most popular centres, and the successful renegotiation of their rent agreements reinforces the attractiveness of Hollywood Bowl Group as a key leisure tenant,” he added.”
