Meetings will decide future of Town Hall

Meetings will decide future of Town Hall

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has appointed consultants to report on the approach and valuation for a future decision on the building.

The authority has said this could lead to a possible sale, lease, repurposing, or redevelopment.

It all precedes construction work beginning on the new Calverley Square civic complex and theatre on land next to Calverley Grounds.

This £90million project will provide a new home for council offices and a 1,200-seat theatre to replace the Assembly Hall.

Work will begin in spring of next year.

Until now the council has revealed little as to how the Town Hall in Civic Way could be used following the completion of Calverley Square in 2022.

The authority also recently completed the acquisition of the dentist inside Calverley Grounds for an undisclosed amount.
