The mayor of Tunbridge Wells auctioned off his beloved motorbike as part of a fundraising drive for Kent based charity, ellenor.
David Elliott’s Harley Davidson was one of the most eye-catching lots at the charity’s Orange Ball in London last month, and cost its new owner Michael Rothstein an eye-watering £5,000.
The ball was held at The Grange in St Pauls and raised £62,000 in total. The £5,000 raised by the sale of the mayor’s motorbike would pay for more than 50 sessions of chemotherapy for a child in their own home.
“I enjoyed many happy days riding my Harley Davidson and I am delighted that Michael is so excited about now owning it.
“I am also, of course, very pleased that £5,000 was raised for ellenor.”
Since he donned the mayoral chains six months ago, Mr Elliot has raised nearly £12,000 for his chosen charity, which will go towards supporting families dealing with terminal illness in Tunbridge Wells and across west Kent. The bike is a 2007 HD Sportster XL 1200 Low.
