The 17-year-old boy arrested in connection with the murder of Paul Jefferies at his home in Mayfield has been remanded in custody until May.
The youth from Crowborough, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Lewes Combined Court for a hearing.
Mr Jefferies, 52, had worked at HMRC for 20-years before moving to his home in Coggins Mil Lane.
