Is it 20mph or 30mph? Signs baffle in Speldhurst
Speldhurst motorists weren’t sure whether to speed up or slow down when a new 20mph road marking was painted next to a sign that said 30mph.
Kent County Council were told the ‘make their minds up’ by commenters on social media after the lines were painted at all entrances to the village.
Another said ‘does this mean the speed limit is 25mph?’
It turns out it does not. The passage is now subject to a 20mph limit, in line with other Kent villages and road signs have since been installed around Speldhurst.
The County Hall explained that one team undertook the line marking and another completed the signage a few days apart to reduce disruption.
