Goodbye to outgoing Mayor and Mayoress

Chiddingstone

Mayor David Elliott bade a fond farewell to friends and colleagues at a special send-off reception to mark the end of his term yesterday.

During this time, the Mayor and Mayoress, June Crowhurst, have toured the borough raising over £25,000 for good causes, namely their charity of choice ellenor, which supports children in need of palliative care.

Cllr Elliott said his term in office had been ‘fantastic’ and he had enjoyed the impartiality of the role when it comes to working with the council.

“The good thing about being impartial is that you get on well with everyone,” he said.

June Crowhurst described the experience as ‘wonderful’ and added that her favourite aspect of her tenure had been meeting people from all over the borough.

She said: “I have really enjoyed going out there and being able to talk to so many people, it has been a wonderful year.”

The pair have one more full week in office before the official handover ceremony next Wednesday, when the current Deputy Mayor, Cllr David Neve, will take up the role.
