A group of friends moved to action by the refugee crisis is launching a campaign to show that ‘Tunbridge Wells Cares’.
To everyone asking ‘what can I do to help?’, the I Gave An Hour Campaign hopes to give an answer.
Founder Sally Fraser said: “I have a little boy the same age as Aylan Kurdi, (the three year old refugee whose body was washed up on a beach) and I will never forget that picture and how it made me feel.
“If the shoe were on the other foot, I would hope someone would care enough to do something to help my family.
“TWCares is our way of showing we care and we’re doing something to help in whatever way we can.”
The campaign, which goes live tomorrow, is a fundraising initiative, with donations to the Red Cross being made through a JustGiving page.
The idea is to encourage people to donate an hour’s pay, businesses an hour’s pro?t and children an hour’s pocket money, so all can get involved.
Mark Astarita of the British Red Cross praised the group’s ‘fantastic efforts’.
