Fake police car tried to pull over motorist

Kent Police has warned that a motorist who allegedly tried to pull over a man at night in Tunbridge Wells could well have been driving a fake police car. They said the vehicle was ‘suspicious’.

The incident came to light after Mike Drew posted on Facebook that he was targeted by a VW Golf with blue flashing lights in Pembury Road.

Mr Drew wrote: “Car flashed me and put left indicator on to pull me over. As I slowed to approx 10mph the car came alongside me slowly and sped off.”

He assumed the suspects inside the vehicle, which had a ’53’ on its number plate, were scared off because they ‘noticed a big bloke in the front seat of a family car’.

The Police said: “At 11.15pm on Wednesday August 17, Kent Police received a report that a vehicle had been seen acting suspiciously in Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells. It is reported that the vehicle could be seen travelling under blue lights. Officers have investigated this report and have, at present, not located any suspicious vehicles.”
