The annual event takes place near Tenterden in the summer

Bookworms and wordsmiths alike can officially get their hands on early bird tickets to the Wealden Literary Festival 2018 this week, which go on sale at 10am on Friday March 16, it has been announced.

A number of discounted day passes and camping pitches will be available for a limited time only to Festival Friends, who, from £20 a year, can enjoy the benefits of priority booking, exclusive offers and events.

All tickets for the full programme will go on general sale from March 29, ahead of the two-day festival this summer, which runs from June 30 to July 1 at Boldshaves Gardens in Woodchurch, near Tenterden.

Day passes include all ticketed talks, events and activities, in addition to entrance to the gardens, but do not cover camping and accommodation, or the campfire feast.

Highlights from this year’s programme so far include Alex Preston’s As Kingfishers Catch Fire, Diana Henry’s How to eat a peach and Gregory Norminton’s The Devil’s Highway, as well as Badger Bushcraft and art workshops from Kate Linforth.
