Benenden School has been given the very special honour of being included in the commemorative book which officially marks Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.

The book, which will be given as a souvenir to dignitaries, heads of state and various other VIPs during a four-night extravaganza which takes place at Windsor Castle from May 12 to 15, celebrates The Queen’s life with chapters on her involvement with the Armed Forces, her dedication to the Commonwealth and also her love of horses.

Another section is dedicated to education, which is why Benenden was asked to take part by the book’s publishers, St James’s House, as it is where Princess Anne went to school.

“We are proud to have educated The Princess Royal, so it was wonderful to be approached by the publisher with an invitation to appear in the event’s commemorative album,” said Benenden School’s headmistress Samantha Price.

Opened in 1923, the exclusive all girls’ boarding school near Cranbrook was home to The Queen’s only daughter from 1963 to 1968. She has been a strong supporter of her alma mater ever since.

Richard Freed of St James’s House publishers said: “We were delighted when Benenden School agreed to help us mark this important milestone.”
