Beer Café named pub of the year

LEADING LIGHT Abi Todd was named Kent League Player of the Year

FUGGLES has been crowned pub of the year by the West Kent branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) in what the organisation described as the ‘closest competition in years’.

The popular ‘beer café’ on Grosvenor Road will now move onto the regional finals for Kent and if successful, could find its-self competing at a national level.

Owner, Alex Greig, said, “It’s great to win Pub of the Year for West Kent – it’s so good to be recognised for all the hard work that goes into running the pub, especially for the team that help me do it.”

Runners up in the local area were the Windmill in Sevenoaks Weald and The Halfway House in Brenchley.

Congratulating Mr Greig while handing him the award in Fuggles, CAMRA branch chairman Craig Beeson said: “All the pubs included in this competition achieve a level of excellence to be commended, with the top 3 in this years competition chopping AND changing right up to the last scores being computed.

“Alex Greig has with Fuggles Beer Cafe, helped to transform the “Beer Scene” in our branch area, particularly in Tunbridge Wells.”
