Barnardo’s pays tribute to long-serving volunteers

Hospice in the Weald Tunbridge Wells

Barnardo’s is rewarding two volunteers in its Tunbridge Wells branch, Anne Field and Margaret Fry, for their combined total of more than 30 years’ service to the charity.

Anne, aged 84, has worked at the store for 18 years, while Margaret, 69, has been helping out for 12 years.

Barnardo’s is marking its 150th anniversary by thanking its 18,000 volunteers for giving their time to the children’s charity.

Store Manager Julie Cerullo marked the occasion by making a cake and presenting the two ladies with a certi? cate of appreciation and flowers.

She said: “Margaret and Anne are amazing and valued members of our team. Without them we wouldn’t be the store we are today.

“Their time and dedication are admirable and we would be lost without them!”

Margaret said: “I love being a volunteer at Barnardo’s and it is a privilege to have worked here for 15 years.

“The team are great and it is always a pleasure to come in and help, and know that I am helping Barnardo’s to support the most vulnerable children in the UK.”

Last year 240,000 children, young people and families in the UK were supported by the charity through more than 960 services.

These included young carers, care leavers, foster carers, adoptive parents, parenting classes, training and skills.
