GEMMA FREEMAN has been selected to represent Great Britain in the ITU World Triathlon Championship.

The physiotherapist, who works at the Horder Centre in Crowborough, faces a 1.5km swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run in the 30-34 age group in Rotterdam on Sunday (September 17).

The 30-year-old was selected after taking part in an event at Arundel in July, three months after competing in her first triathlon in Steyning.

Gemma, who specialises in -musculoskeletal and sports injury rehabilitation, was a keen footballer until a year ago when an old neck injury flared up.

She joined the Brighton Triathlon Club and now trains seven to nine times a week. Gemma said: “I was really delighted to be selected for the team. I’m really looking forward to it and am just going to see how it goes for my first national event.”
