Tonbridge Angels Ladies play at Longmead to mark LGBT campaign

TONBRIDGE ANGELS Ladies will play their first league game at Longmead Stadium this Sunday [December 3] to mark this year’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

The awareness scheme is run by the Football Association and Stonewall, an organisation with supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.

In a show of solidarity for LGBT+ people in sport, the team and management will wear rainbow laces in their boots for the South East Counties League match against Barming.

Rachel Watson, the Ladies’ secretary and treasurer, said: “I’m excited for the Rainbow Laces game and think it’s great that Tonbridge Angels Ladies are showing the public what we do privately – that we are welcoming and inclusive to all, and that we value and celebrate our LGBT+ players and supporters. It will be a great afternoon of football and togetherness.”

Entry will be by voluntary donation and the match will kick off at 2pm. The tea bar
and main bar will be open.
