Rugby: Young Tunbridge Wells players earn their stripes with Tigers

LEADING LIGHT Abi Todd was named Kent League Player of the Year

JUNIORS from Tunbridge Wells Rugby Club have been honing their skills with the professionals at Welford Road with the Premiership’s Leicester Tigers.

They took part in a Matchday Coaching Clinic with the Tigers and then joined a 23,940 strong crowd for the final home game of the season against Sale Sharks.

Tigers Clinics allow teams to work with the club’s coaches. They also had a chance to quiz Tigers scrum-half Jono Kitto about his life in professional rugby.

Then they followed in the players’ footsteps by having a team photo taken on the famous Welford Road turf at half-time in front of the crowd.

Tunbridge Wells coach Rob Green accompanied the group for their photo with Kitto and said: “We are on tour and it has been a great day.

“The coaches were brilliant and went through everything we asked for and they were really good with all the kids.”
