TONBRIDGE JUDDIANS continued on the road to recovery with a home victory over Old Redcliffians thanks to Hugo Watson’s two tries.
TJs started the better against their lowly visitors, and controlled early possession on a slippery and difficult surface at the Slade.
But some poor decision-making and offloading skills in the tricky conditions saw several opportunities wasted.
However, the pressure eventually told and a Watson offload sent Dave Irvine over to give the hosts the lead, though the try was not converted.
TJs applied more pressure but a turnover in the opposition 22 saw Reds run the ball back 80 metres with some skilful interplay to score.
The home side struck back through Watson but Liam Prescott again missed the extra two points with his effort from the left touchline.
Prescott did slot two penalties for the home side before the break, and with a penalty for the ORs too the half-time score stood at 16-10.
Straight from the restart TJS struck through Galbraith-Lowe and then secured another try through Duncan Tout.
But with neither score -converted the game was not quite in the bag for the hosts.
Reds scored next through Jermaine Jones, the try was converted by Henry Bird, and with ten minutes left the score sat precariously at 26-24.
However, it was TJs who finished the stronger and Watson’s second try secured the points, Prescott converting to make sure of victory.
That makes two wins in a row for TJs in National Two South after a run of five defeats.
After a blank weekend they face Barnstaple away on November 25.
