Paddock Wood Social Club sponsors snooker prodigy Dylan Smith

YOUNG snooker star Dylan Smith has received £400 in sponsorship from Paddock Wood Social Club to further his burgeoning career.

The ten year old, who attends Brenchley & Matfield Primary School, has been tearing up the baize with his talent – including recently taking on Jimmy ‘Whirlwind’ White.

Club Chairman Gareth Edwards said: “We are proud to be sponsoring young Dylan as he embarks on a journey to snooker stardom.

“Hopefully, one day we can have some pictures on the wall of Dylan holding aloft the world championship trophy. No pressure, Dylan!”

Dylan is currently being coached by World Tour player Leo Fernandez, and has been practising with Ben Sizer, five-times Kent Under-21 champion.

Now he is trying to raise £2,000 in sponsorship to allow him to play on the amateur circuit and cover the cost of travel, accommodation, entry fees and expenses.

Paddock Wood Social Club was established almost 65 years ago to provide a focus for the community and offer entertainment and social activities.

The club, in Lucknow Road, boasts snooker and pool tables as well as a fully licensed bar and function hall.

Mr Edwards said: “We looking to become an integral part of the Paddock Wood community again. So why not come and challenge Dylan to a game of snooker?”
