Karate: Vinehall's O'Regan scoops gold with Britain

VINEHALL School’s Ollie O’Regan was part of the Great Britain team that won gold at the WIKF World Championships in Curacao.

Ollie was pipped to fourth place in the individual kumite when he was drawn against the American -champion in the first round.

Then he found himself up against one of his team mates in the repechage and came fourth again.

Competing in the team event on the Caribbean island, Britain defeated the USA and Denmark to win the championships.

Ollie, who is head boy at the school in -Robertsbridge, has been training since he was five years old and was selected for the WIKF England squad aged nine.

He went to win bronze at the European -Championships in Cyprus followed by a silver in Rotterdam last year.
