Hooked on Fishing at Bewl Water with the Times
TAKING A DIP: Bewl’s water temperature has sunk to 11C

EVERY fortnight Bewl Water will provide an update on the latest fishing activity, news and insights into what’s happening on the reservoir.

Cooler days and some very cold nights have pushed Bewl’s water temperature right down to 11C, which is very good news for the fishery.

Fishing has improved enormously – with some good bags of hard-fighting trout now being observed.

The fish are very active and high up in the water, and fly fishing with bright flies, boobies, minkies and blobs, and any method fishing, with baits and spinners, are both productive.

Predator fishing has been slower but a few pike have been caught on lures, the largest to date weighing in at 17lb.

If you don’t usually fish beyond the end of October then come along to Bewl and give it a go; there have been some beautiful days with good fishing this month.

Substantial discounts on fishing are now available throughout the winter, particularly on fishing boat hire.

Please note that weekends are very busy so boats should be booked in advance by calling 01892 890000.

Anglers fishing on Fridays can have a fish and chip lunch for two at the Boathouse Bistro with a soft drink, tea or coffee for £16 from 12-4pm.

Book a table in the lodge when you purchase your permits or call the number above.
