Hockey: Tunbridge Wells Ladies lose out in bruising encounter

Lee Colyer

TUNBRIDGE WELLS Ladies fought hard against East London in a close and gritty game at Lee Valley but came away with no points in East Region Division One South.

The players received a few bumps and bruises along the way as Wells tried to maintain their strength in possession right across the pitch.

Despite holding their press throughout the first half, however, the visitors conceded a goal.

Going into the second half, Wells retained their shape well but struggled to find the right outlets to threaten the East London goal.

The home side always looked threatening on the break, and it was from one of these that they scored again midway through the second period.

Next up are Bishops Stortford, who sit just a point ahead of Wells in the table, at Hawkenbury on Saturday (October 21, 1pm start).
