Hockey: Stephenson keeps Wells on comfortable run
TUNBRIDGE WELLS saw their run of form continue in East Region Division One South as they travelled to the Olympic Park in Stratford.

The visitors won a short corner and looked to go in front early into the game. A quick one-two between Ollie Gerrett and Amy Hare saw the shot deflected and fall kindly for Georgia Whitaker to take the lead.

Strong passes across pitch from Jen Hunt to Jess Begg allowed the latter to drive up the line and win Wells another short corner but it was unsuccessful. But Wells peppered the opposing goal with shots.

The visitors started the second half shakily and Wells were indebted to well-timed tackles from Amy Hare and Pip Ross.

Tunbridge Wells had to work hard in defence and use transfers across the pitch to create space for the forwards to run into.

Wells won another short corner near the end after a powerful hit from Pip Ross into the D struck a defenders’ foot.

After a perfectly executed short corner Jemma Stephenson slotted the ball past the keeper to ensure victory.

Tunbridge Wells now sit comfortably in fourth position in the table and look to take three more points off Upminster at Hawkenbury this weekend.
