Hockey: Crostyx punish Tunbridge Wells Ladies on break

Pam Mills

TUNBRIDGE WELLS Ladies found -themselves up against one of the season’s pacesetters in Crostyx in East Region League Division One South at Hawkenbury.

They welcomed back captain Jen Hunt after a prolonged absence through injury. But the home side started slowly and fell behind to a short corner goal within the first five minutes.

This forced Wells to up their game and they soon levelled the scores, Miar Murphy firing home off the keeper from a well worked slip move.

After withstanding sustained pressure, the visitors made one decisive break and regained the lead mid way through the second half.

It came against the run of play as Wells’ defence had nullified any threat until then thanks to an outstanding performance from Lou Richardson.

On Saturday October 14 the Ladies travel to Lee Valley to face mid-table East London (kick-off 3pm).
