TWO West Kent schools have been highly successful at this year’s British Schools Gymnastics Association (BSGA) Milano competition.

Each team of four at Fenton Manor in Stoke performed three individual floor routines, three vaults and a trio group routine.

Kent College’s Under-19 squad, consisting of Rosie Bignell, Harriet Fuller, Poppy Morrison and Olivia Secker and coached by Joanne Cox, were crowned BSGA Milano national champions after coming first in their age group.

They were also placed first in the South East regional category alongside Tormead School in Guildford.

The two schools’ scores were then combined with the boys’ and mixed entries to win the national title for the South-East.

The independent school in Pembury also entered the Under-11 category with the quartet of Violet Manser, Francesca Arnell, Evie Ginbey and Scarlett Howard-Stapaj.

The Under-11s came second in their age group behind Tormead and first in the South-East, and they also helped as the region took the national prize.

Tonbridge Grammar School’s elite gymnasts, coached by Tania Catoor, were taking part in the Under-13s and Under-16s after a very successful regional qualifier at St Johns School.

The Under-13 squad of Millie Lipman, Jess Lewis, Flo Wells and Charlotte Ng narrowly missed out on the title, and were placed second just 0.23 points behind Tormead.

Joining forces to represent the South-East, the two schools once again took away the national gold medal, and the region also went on to win the overall title.

The Under-16s, featuring Fleur Jenkins, Maddie Arnell, Adele White and Rebecca Ng, were placed third on the podium representing the South-East alongside Tormead.
