Former Tonbridge Angel chief rewarded with a signed shirt from team

BIRKIN LODGE Care Home in Hawkenbury, Tunbridge Wells, made resident Frank Davis’s wish come true by presenting him with a framed Tonbridge Angels Football Club shirt which was signed by all the first-team players and manager Steve McKimm.

Frank is a former Chairman of the club and played an important role after its eviction from the Angel Ground during the mid-1970s.

He and Billy Wheeler took on Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council in the High Court and won the right to have access to a new council-owned ground, which became Longmead.

Birkin Lodge’s Activities Coordinator, Alberto Grima-Carmona, decided to get the club involved as an opportunity for them to thank Frank for all the work he had done for them.

He said: “I do everything I can to see our residents happy, it is why I love my job so much. We are not only carers, we are part of our residents’  lives so we do everything from the heart, no matter how small or big, and try to make every moment matter.

“It is not only me that tries to fulfil residents’ wishes but the whole team here at Birkin Lodge, which is what makes this home great. This was a great day!”

Frank’s daughter, who lives in the United States, sent the team an email thanking them for giving her father such a heartfelt gift.
