MANAGER Steve McKimm has said he will make changes to his squad after the Angels slumped to another league defeat with a below-par performance at Longmead.

The Tanners cruised to their fourth successive league victory against a Tonbridge side that have now lost their last three league games.

Leatherhead opened their account on 16 minutes when a foul by Angels keeper Jonny Henly on Travis Gregory inside the area led to a penalty which was converted by Jeremiah Amoo.

Tonbridge enjoyed more of the possession and saw chances fall to Alex Read and Tom Beere, but it was the Tanners who went further ahead a minute before half-time.

D’Sean Theobalds grabbed possession just inside the final third, cut inside and beat Henly with an accurate shot into the right-hand corner.

With the two-goal cushion Leatherhead were in control with a sound defensive display but still showed plenty of attacking threat.

Two minutes into the second half Dan Gallagher saw his effort just clear the crossbar and on 65 minutes Travis Gregory spurned a good chance.

The home side tried hard to get back in the game but they were restricted to half-chances and Leatherhead always looked favourites to go on and claim all three points.

McKimm said afterwards: “We were awful at Harlow, I thought we had perhaps turned a corner last Tuesday at Worthing [1-1 in the Velocity Trophy] but today we were very poor.

“The home end was empty by the end of the game, and I can’t blame supporters for leaving early,” he added.

“We had perhaps three or four chances and haven’t scored, Leatherhead have had three chances and scored from two of them.”

Tonbridge, who had led the Bostik League Premier for three months, now find themselves slipping down to third and in danger of being caught by a number of other sides.

The Angels must now travel to take on the top side Dorking Wanderers on Saturday [December 1, kick-off 3pm].
