TONBRIDGE ANGELS have appointed Dave Netherstreet as the new Chairman at a time when the club is struggling financially.
Mr Netherstreet is responsible for infrastructure at Longmead and has spent the past five years ensuring the ground is eligible to stage semi-professional football.
Last month the Angels had to trim three players from their first-team squad due to ongoing concerns about the club’s budget.
Roger Maddams was chosen to succeed Steve Churcher as Chairman at the start of the year but he had to stand down after three weeks because of work commitments and has now resigned from the board.
Amy Weaver becomes Vice-Chairman after revolutionising the catering on offer at Longmead and bringing the entire operation in-house.
She will continue to oversee catering but will also be in charge of community and charity initiatives, which are increasingly important to the club’s finances.
Long-serving Vice-Chairman Chris Drew has stepped down but will continue to work on sponsorship and take part in post-match presentations.
A club statement said: “We thank Roger for his valuable initiative in drawing up the Three-Year Plan for the club that has provided a sound template for moving forward.
“Owners are asked to continue to give support to the directors in their new roles and also to the other board members, Dave Couldridge, Peter Elves, Malcolm McLean and Vanessa Yates, as they all continue to lead your club through the various opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as the club enters its platinum season.”
