Sydney Boyd and Anna Howey in Year 12 and Annabelle Martin from Year 11 were in the England Junior Girls’ team in Lohja.
Former Beacon students Joe Sugden, Felix Price and Archer Woods were in the Boys’ side. Both teams managed to reach the quarter-finals.
Following her achievements as the youngest player to compete in the adult 2018 World Mixed Curling Championships in Canada, Boyd was skip (captain) of the England Junior Girls team, with Sugden leading the boys.
Both teams gave outstanding performances over the eight-day tournament, while fellow pupils followed their progress on social media and Curling Finland’s YouTube channel.
England Junior Girls were victorious in games against Australia, Kazakhstan and Estonia, but were defeated by Russia in the last eight.
The boys achieved the highest score since 1999 for an England Junior Boys team, winning matches against Denmark, China’s Taipei, Belarus, Netherlands and France but losing to Italy in the quarter-finals.
Beacon Curling coach Owen Rees said: “We are incredibly proud of them all and know they will be back for more next year.”
Meanwhile the Academy’s girls and boys took first and second place respectively in the Under-21 Open Championships at Fenton’s near Tunbridge Wells.
