Clever ways to go greener

Dulux’s colour of the year Tranquil Dawn

For a good while the green tones that have been favoured in stylish homes have been on the richer end of the scale – think jade, forest and jungle hues – and it’s easy to see why as they add a strong statement of colour and opulence into any scheme. But with the news that Dulux has named its shade for 2020 as Tranquil Dawn, a soft and light pale green, then it won’t be too long before we start to see pops of it creeping into spaces.

It’s a given that using the lighter end of the green colour spectrum is a super easy way to create freshness and light. And the good news is Tranquil Dawn is incredibly versatile as you can use it in a living area, a bedroom and even a bathroom, such is its chameleon-like nature.

Daub it on a feature wall or on soft furnishings and you’ll see how it can make a statement without being too much of a ‘look at me’ colour. Or why not go for it on kitchen crockery, glassware or napkins?

Introducing a glimmer of metallic such as brass or gold or indeed a neutral ecru or shell pink will give it a contemporary lift and create complementary contrasts.
