Children’s art competition for Tonbridge’s Dementia Friendly Community

TONBRIDGE’S Dementia Friendly Community is calling on young people to take part in an art competition – with the best entries being featured in a calendar.

The contest is open to all children who live in Tonbridge area including Hadlow, Hildenborough, Golden Green and East Peckham, or attend a school there.

The subject is ‘Living well with dementia’, and the artworks can be created in any medium.

They should be submitted on A4 size paper to Tonbridge DFC, 173 High Street, Tonbridge TN9 1BX by the closing day, March 29. Entries must have name, age and school written on the back.

There are three categories, for year groups four to six, seven to nine and 10 to 13. The finalists will be notified through their schools by the end of April and a prize giving ceremony will be held on May 25, during Dementia Awareness week.

Four children in each category will receive WH Smith vouchers, along with age-appropriate books relating to dementia for their school library.

The finalists’ work will be exhibited at a town centre location, then used to form a Tonbridge DFC calendar for 2019.
