Bring Your Own Baby Comedy gives young parents the chance to have a laugh

THE Bring Your Own Baby comedy show is coming to The Plough pub in Leigh on November 29 for its debut in the Tonbridge area.

It will feature three comedians, founder Alyssa Kyria, Jess Fostekew and Mary Bourke.

Bring Your Own Baby [BYOB] was conceived by Alyssa and fellow comedian Carly Smallman. Alyssa says: “We were lamenting the lack of good local comedy shows. I had recently become a mum and was telling Carly about how isolated and lonely I had felt in the early days of motherhood.

“I suffered with post-natal depression and had wished there was somewhere I could go with my little one where I wouldn’t worry if my baby was crying, or if I needed to breastfeed. I noticed the lack of events that were ‘for me’, rather than my baby.”

She adds: “We created a place where parents can come and have a good laugh, where they have everything they need – buggy parking, baby changing, toys and soft flooring. They don’t have to worry if their baby screams. It’s a safe zone, where anything goes.”

BYOB held their first show in Beckenham in September last year, and now perform at 17 venues across the UK.

Entry is for over-16s and babies under 12 months only, due to the adult material. The show starts and midday and lasts 75 minutes.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from www.byobcomedy.com/tonbridge. BYOB will return on December 20 and January 24.
