Boxer Woledge aims to get Tonbridge children and adults fit and hitting hard

THE youth boxing group that used to be housed in the Teen & Twenty Club in Tonbridge before its closure earlier this year is going from strength to strength.

Wayne Smith founded Olympia Boxing to deliver boxing fitness programmes in schools and -community groups.

Now Team GB boxer Daniel Woledge is joining forces with Wayne. The 23-year-old from Dartford has represented England and won national titles.

Olympia Boxing has been working at Long Mead Primary School for five years as well as at St Stephens Primary, Hayesbrook and Hugh Christie.

It has recently started a -programme at the new Nexus Foundation Special School in Tonbridge, working with the disability students.

Wayne is looking to expand his operation and says: “With our community programmes we have taken this nationwide especially our Urban Box Mobile Arena, which is a fantastic tool for delivering a boxing workshop anywhere from a housing estate to a football stadium.”

Olympia Boxing provides a range of community sessions across Tonbridge and Malling:

Monday: Boxing Youth 9-16 years, Tonbridge Baptist Church, 5.30pm

Tuesday: Box Fitness for adults, The East Malling Centre, 9.30am

Tuesday: Boxing Rookies 5-9 years, Tonbridge Youth Hub, 5.30pm

Wednesday: Box Fitness for adults, Paddock Wood Masonic Hall, 9.30am

Thursday: Box Fitness for adults, Tonbridge Baptist Church, 9.30am

Thursday: Boxing Youth 9 years and over, Tonbridge Youth Hub, 5.30pm
