Grab your lilo and hop in the car…here are five beaches within an hour of Tunbridge Wells
Whitstable
Grab some of the famed Whitstable oysters and take a seat on the seafront of this fishing and harbour town on the north Kentish coast. Where Tankerton meets Whitstable is where you’ll first catch a glimpse of the infamous beach huts, and at low tide you can walk out along a natural causeway called The Street.
Camber Sands
Just outside of the ancient town of Rye in East Sussex you’ll find Camber Sands – two miles of gorgeous sandy beach with dunes, watersports and calm waters perfect for swimming in. There’s a reason people flock for miles to come to these sandy shores – it’s not uncommon for people to head to Camber for a week’s holiday, even when they live locally!
Brighton
One of the UK’s most famous beaches is just a short drive from Tunbridge Wells, and offers ample sunbathing opportunities as well as family fun on Brighton’s iconic pier. Ride the country’s oldest electric railway, visit the beachfront promenade shops or just grab a deckchair and relax
Hastings
Another popular seaside town within easy reach is Hastings, and whether you’re looking to play arcade games, enjoy a spot of crazy golf or just relax on the pebbles with an ice cream, it’s a great beach to take a trip to. The newly renovated pier is also well worth a visit too.
Greatstone
The sandy beach of Greatstone near Romney Marsh stretches for over two miles and is the perfect place to enjoy sun, sand, sea and views out over the English Channel.
