Your invitation to savour some gourmet food and good groves

Over the weekend of July 12-14 Dunorlan Park will play host to a raft of famous celebrity chefs, top musical acts and lots of delicious food and drink thanks to Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park rolling into town again.

This is the second year of the event which also takes place in other areas around the country including Bath, Knutsford and also Marlow, Tom’s home town, which is where it all began three years ago. And Tom and his team are hoping that this year will be just as big a success as last summer which saw thousands descend on the beautiful Tunbridge Wells park.

“Everyone was such great fun and there was a great vibe at Dunorlan,” says Tom. “The fantastic weather made it so special and the fact it was the first year there. But what I also liked was that everyone in Tunbridge Wells knew what Pub in the Park was going to be all about. Everyone grabbed it, got and loved it!”

For its 2019 stint in Tunbridge Wells once again there’s a stellar line up of top chefs on the bill including the likes of MasterChef’s Angela Hartnett and our very own James Tanner and his brother Chris who co-run Bidborough’s The Kentish Hare.

“What a beautiful and fantastic event last year was,” James says. “It was really great, there was a wonderful festival feeling and the bands were amazing. We got some really great food producers and chefs from all over Kent turning up to it.

“There’s no denying it was fast and furious for those of us catering to hundreds of people every day but we were well set up for it all. Our aim was to serve up the highest quality food, quickly and consistently, and happily we achieved that. The feedback we had from customers was amazing!”

As well as lots of gourmet goodies to savour from the numerous pop-ups such as the Tanner brothers’ there’ll also be lots of local artisan food and drink producers present and a brilliant music line-up to enjoy including the likes of Rick Astley, Soul II Soul Sound System, Basement Jaxx, Will Young and Gabrielle.

And what does Tom, who runs two Michelin star pubs The Hand and Flowers and The Coach in Marlow as well as many media commitments enjoy most about putting on this gastro and grooves event?

“Wandering around seeing people eating loads of food, enjoying the sunshine, having a couple of drinks then watching a band. Now, it really doesn’t get better than that does it?”
