Local photographer David Bartholomew tells us about his favourite places locally

Where do you live?
Having been a lifelong resident of Tunbridge Wells I recently moved to Heathfield to be nearer family and somewhere a little more rural which gives me the best of both worlds as it’s only 20 minutes from TW where I have my studio.

What’s your favourite shop locally?
My favourite shop locally to my home is Tinker & Toad, its an eclectic mix of antiques, modern and vintage home furnishings where I can get completely immersed in the surroundings.

Where do you head for lunch or a coffee?
My best spot for lunch has to be any one of the restaurants or pubs the Pantiles and for a coffee The Cake Shed is always my choice.

What about the nightlife where you live?
Nightlife at my age is probable a little more gentile than it used to be! The Mark Cross Inn has drop in on occasions for a beverage.

Where do you go for Sunday stroll?
A Sunday stroll for me has to be across the South Downs Way around the Lewes area, the views are stunning and it’s so peaceful there.

Where do you take visitors when they come to stay?
I have to say I have a real soft spot for The Pantiles so I will always meet or take visitors there. The architecture and mix of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops makes a great place to relax and watch the world go by. The location also means its easy to stroll across the commons and we quite often end up at Wellington Rocks.
