WEDDING FEVER AT HEVER

Over the weekend of Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13 Great Comp Garden in St Mary’s Platt will hold its annual Autumn Extravaganza, which will see some of the area’s best plant nurseries showing off their collections. Chocolate fans will want to indulge in Temper Temper’s special series of workshops this month. The Southborough-based chocolatier is running a number of fun and informative events, including a three-hour truffle workshop aimed at older teenagers and adults on October 20. ARTISTIC APPROACH

The Tonbridge creative collective 4art are hosting a special exhibition at Tonbridge Castle from October 19-24. PITCH PERFECT

On October 30 The Forum welcomes actor Lucy Stevens in her one-woman show entitled Kathleen Ferrier Whattalife! This new play, which also boasts music, tells the story of Kathleen Ferrier, the great English contralto who died from cancer at the height of her career in 1953. The fun and engaging piece is written in Kathleen’s own words, taken from her letters and diaries. There will also be some of the music from Miss Ferrier’s repertoire featured which made her so famous. Not only was the Lancashire born singer gifted in the classical genre, she sang lots of folk and popular ballads too and was also a talented pianist. COMEDY VALUE

Legendary stand-up veteran Ben Elton is back on the road after a 15-year absence. The political comedian first found fame on Channel 4’s Saturday Live more than 30 years ago and has decided that after co-writing TV series such as The Young Ones and Blackadder, plus penning the musicals We Will Rock You and Love Never Dies, it’s time to go back on the road. Ben says he promises to try and make sense of a world which appears to have gone ‘stark raving mad’, adding: “The last time I toured I was still smarter than my phone. Things have definitely taken a funny turn.” The show is at the Assembly Hall on Monday October 28, and tickets cost £32.25 from www.assemblyhalltheatre.co.uk

SPOOKY COOKS

This Halloween keen young chefs are invited to a special cookery event at Chiddingstone Castle. On Thursday October 31 from 4-7pm, it’s run by Jo Banks from Alive with Flavour, who will help children to create a spooky dinner menu followed by a torchlit tour of the castle.
