Road surfacing and aggregates company Ferns is looking to become a force in the gas sector with their purchase of Forefront.

Law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore [TSP] helped oversee a deal, announced last week, which will bolster the portfolio of Maidstone-based Ferns.

This month TSP, who have an office in Lonsdale Gardens in Tunbridge Wells, also played a key role in the sale of Gavin Jones LTD to Nurture Landscapes.

South Eastern firm Forefront have a £15million turnover and employ 150 staff.

A spokesman was unable to confirm if jobs could be affected and if Forefront will continue under the same name.

TSP said Ferns had bought Forefront from Alternative Investment Market-listed Renew Holdings for a ‘de minimis’ price.

Keith McAlister, Corporate Partner at TSP, said: “We are delighted to have advised Ferns on its acquisition of the Forefront group.

“It is an excellent opportunity for Ferns to grow its capabilities in the gas sector.

“Forefront operates in London and the South East of England, so Ferns’ acquisition of the company will further strengthen its presence.”

In the Gavin Jones deal, also announced last week, Nurture Landscapes will take on a firm with a turnover of £30million.

This will create a group with combined sales of £65million, 1,000 staff and service to more than 3,500 UK clients.
