Town retains its reputation for digital excellence

LEADING LIGHT Abi Todd was named Kent League Player of the Year

TUNBRIDGE WELLS has retained its reputation as a base for creative innovation after securing five Gold awards at this year’s Kent Digital Awards.

Accolades across 14 categories were presented to outstanding organisations at the Ashford International Hotel on June 1 by former BBC broadcaster Robin Bailey.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are then handed out to those companies that are considered to be at the top of their game in each field, with the Gold winners being submitted into a region final covering six counties in the South East.

Pantiles-based creative agency ifour took home the top accolade in three categories; ‘online retailer’, ‘use of social media for business’ and ‘overall website’. The firm also won a Bronze award for the best sports and entertainment website.

Claire Passos, Business Development Manager at ifour, said it was a ‘slow start’ for the team, as it wasn’t until the eight category that they finally picked up their Bronze award.

“We then seemed to be on a roll. As you can imagine, the team were ecstatic with their haul of four awards and are now looking forward to the chance of winning at the Digital Champions event next February,” she said.

Calverley House web design agency Larrytech took home the Gold for the ‘best marketing and creative website’, as well as a Silver award for ‘online retailer’.

Company founder Larry Hardcastle said: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce that we won two awards at the Kent Digital Awards.”

On winning the Gold for the design of his company’s own website, he added: “This award is a tremendous accolade, and a true credit to everyone who’s been involved in the design, development, content population and promotion of our site.”

The Clarence Road marketing agency Curve Interactive topped the podium in the best ‘use of video for business’ category for the footage it made on behalf of the financial services company, Shard Capital.

Head of marketing at Shard Capital, Simon Hughes, said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ by the end product, adding: “The team at Curve rose to the challenge of our brief. We wanted a video which was different and non-corporate, but without going too leftfield as to turn people off.”

Head Judge Robin Bailey described the event as a ‘thrilling night’ and thanked Tunbridge Wells law firm Cripps for sponsoring the event.

“What a sensational celebration the Kent Digital Awards has been once again and thank you so much to Cripps for getting behind it in such a big way.

“More entries than ever and so much superb talent from all walks of life in one room, celebrating digital and celebrating Kent, absolutely fantastic.”
