Starbucks to return to Tunbridge Wells

Vaulted cellars serve as ideal spaces to practise piano.

Starbucks is looking to return to Tunbridge Wells with plans lodged to move into Knight Frank offices in Mount Pleasant.

With the estate agent tipped to move to the High Street, the door has been left open for the coffee shop giant to return to the town centre after leaving Calverley Road in October.

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council received a change of usage application on January 30 to convert the estate agent. The building was previously a cafe in the 1950s.

A design statement put forward read: ‘The proposal is to include a new office/staff room, community room and toilet to the rear of the building.

‘At the front end of the building the design proposes a servery, wash up and customer seating area.’

Starbucks re-joins a strong selection of chain coffee shops in Tunbridge Wells, and will be just down the road from Caffe Nero, Pret a Manger and Costa, all at Five Ways.

Here’s how the new cafe could look…
